A night out at the dogs. What a great way to spend time with your friends and family. They cater for all walks of life, where you can rub shoulders with everyone from the track experts to the novice punter. They have lots of bars, fast food places and restaurants. You can stand outside, rain or shine, or get a swanky box to impress your guests. My Local dog track is Walthamstow, almost a home from home, but I also enjoy nights out at Romford and Wimbledon too.
If you are a track regular you may be aware that I have recently bought a few dogs, extending my interest from punter to owner. My good friend Gary Baggs and Derek Knight train some of the dogs. They then enter them in races all around the country and so far we are not doing too badly.
I have quite a few dogs to date, the first bought after the success of Lock Stock, and as a sort of homage to the film and what it has brought me, the dogs have race names that start with the word 'Smoking'.
Smoking Barrel was the first dog I owned, and after some notable successes, we have decided to retire her, and start breeding her. Hopefully she'll produce a few little barrels that will follow in their mother's footsteps.
Gary Baggs trains: Smoking Barrel (retired), Smoking Jacket, & Smoking Snatch.
